kultivo is a study app for Azerbaijani school and entrance-exam courses. It is made by Original Labs, a company registered in Azerbaijan ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the kultivo app for iOS and Android and the kultivo website.
The short version: you can use kultivo without an account, and then your study data stays on your device. If you create an account, we keep your email address, your age details and your study data on our server, so that your progress can follow you between devices. We show no advertising and run no analytics, and we do not sell your information. You can delete your account and this data at any time.
What stays on your device
The app keeps the following on your phone or tablet, in the app's own storage:
- your progress: which lessons you have read, the answers you gave, your mistakes and what is due for review;
- your notes, the formulas you pinned to your sheet, and your question-bank and mock-exam results;
- your conversations with the AI tutor, so you can read a reply again without asking twice;
- your settings: language, theme, text size, sound and haptics, and recent searches;
- a random install code, described under "Asking the AI tutor" below.
Without an account, none of this is sent to us, apart from what you send when you ask the AI tutor. We cannot see it, and we cannot recover it if it is lost. If your device's backup service (iCloud or Google) is switched on, the operating system may include the app's storage in your backup; that backup is handled by Apple or Google under their own terms.
You can remove this data at any time. "Clear my data" in the app's settings removes your progress, notes, mistakes, pinned formulas and test results. Deleting the app removes everything it has stored, conversations and settings included.
If you create an account
An account is optional. If you create one, we keep:
- your email address, and the name and picture Google or Apple gives us, if it gives any;
- how you sign in: Google, Apple or a code by email, the identifier Google or Apple uses for you, and the sign-in tokens it issues;
- your birth year, and your birth month only if you turn 13 this year, to check the minimum age;
- the language you chose, and which version of the terms and this policy you accepted and when;
- for each device you are signed in on, a record of the session: when it started, when it ends, and the description your device or browser gives of itself. We do not keep your IP address with it;
- your study data, described below.
We use this to sign you in, to keep your study data the same on your devices, to decide what your plan opens, to apply the minimum age and to answer your requests.
Sign-in. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that company tells us your email address and confirms that it is yours. Apple's "Hide My Email" gives us a private relay address instead. If you sign in with a code, we send it to your email address through Cloudflare's email service. We store the code only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back, and it stops working after 10 minutes or once it is used.
Age. We ask for your age once, before an account is created. If you do not finish signing up, we keep nothing: your answer is held only in a temporary pass on your device, which expires after 15 minutes.
Study data. When you are signed in, the app or website keeps these on our server: your notes and highlights, pinned formulas, your answers, mistakes and review schedule, lessons you flagged, how far you have read, your question-bank and mock-exam results, your conversations with the AI tutor, and your settings. What you already have on the device is added to your account the first time you sign in.
If a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted. Records from lessons that are locked again stay on the server and come back if you renew.
To limit abuse, we count sign-in attempts by IP address and by email address for a short time. Those counts are not kept afterwards.
Plans and payments
Paid plans are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google takes the payment, and we never see your card details. RevenueCat, a service that handles in-app subscriptions for us, receives your purchase details and your account's identifier from the store, confirms the purchase and tells our server about it.
We keep, for each subscription: the plan and its period, which store it came from, its status, whether it was a free trial, whether it renews, the store's product and transaction identifiers, its dates, and the notifications the store or RevenueCat sends us about it. If we give someone a plan by hand, for example for testing, we also record who gave it and why.
Paying on the website is not available yet. Before it is, we will update this policy to name the payment provider.
Asking the AI tutor
The AI tutor is "Ask AI", which explains a question you have already answered. It only runs when you tap it, and it needs an internet connection.
When you ask, the app sends our server:
- the question as you saw it: its text, answer options, figures, the book's answer and explanation;
- the answer you chose, or what you typed;
- the messages you write to the tutor in that conversation;
- the app's language;
- the random install code and, if you are signed in, your session.
The install code is made up on your device the first time you ask. It is not linked to your name, your phone number, your Apple or Google account, or your device's advertising identifier. We use it to limit how many questions one install can ask per minute, so the service cannot be abused.
Our server runs on Cloudflare. It forwards the question and conversation to Google's Gemini API, which writes the reply, and returns the reply to the app. Answering a question does not store it on our server. For each reply we record only technical facts: which question it was about, how many messages the conversation had, how many figures were sent, how long the reply took and how many tokens it used. None of what you wrote is in that record. If you are signed in, the conversation is kept with your study data, as described above.
We use Google's paid Gemini API service. Under Google's terms for that service, Google does not use the content of requests to train or improve its models. Google may keep requests for a limited period to detect abuse and for legal reasons, as its terms describe.
Please do not write personal information, such as your full name, address or phone number, in a message to the tutor. The tutor does not need it to explain a question.
The website
The main kultivo website and these policy pages set no cookies and run no analytics or advertising scripts. They remember the language you chose in your browser's local storage.
If you sign in on the website, our server sets cookies that are needed for that and for nothing else: one that keeps you signed in, for up to 60 days, and short-lived ones used while you sign in, including the temporary age pass. Your study data may also be kept in your browser so that it opens quickly.
When you ask for a sign-in code on the website, Cloudflare Turnstile may check that you are a person and not a bot. It runs in your browser and Cloudflare handles what it collects under its own privacy policy.
Like any website, the server that delivers it may record IP addresses and request details in its logs to deliver and secure the site.
Who handles information for us
- Cloudflare runs our server and database, stores content, delivers email and protects the service from attacks. It receives your device's IP address and ordinary request details, and keeps these in short-lived logs under its own privacy policy.
- Google signs you in if you choose it, and writes the AI tutor's replies.
- Apple signs you in if you choose it.
- Apple and Google sell subscriptions through their stores.
- RevenueCat confirms and tracks store subscriptions.
Each may use the information only to provide its service to us, or under its own terms where you have an account with it.
App stores
You download kultivo from the App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process information about your download and purchase under their own privacy policies, and may give us aggregated, anonymous statistics, such as the number of installs or crash reports, if you have agreed to share them with developers.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or share personal information for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles of users. We do not use third-party analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs in the app.
How long we keep it
- Your account and study data: until you delete your account.
- A sign-in code: until it is used, and at most 10 minutes.
- A session: until you sign out, and at most 60 days after you last used it.
- Deleted notes and other study records: a short marker stays until your other devices have seen the deletion.
- Backups: deleted information can remain in our database's automatic backups for up to 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app or on the website at any time. This removes your account, your age details, your sessions, your study data and your subscription records from our database, and signs you out everywhere. It cannot be undone.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, because only the store can do that. We will tell you if you still have one, and you should cancel it in the store. Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases.
Children and students
kultivo is made for school students, many of whom are under 18. You can use kultivo without an account at any age, and without giving us any personal data.
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over. We ask for your birth year when you create an account and refuse anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it.
If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about your child's account, or want it deleted, contact us at the address below.
Where information is processed
Our database is kept in Western Europe. Cloudflare, Google, Apple and RevenueCat may process information outside Azerbaijan, including in the European Union and the United States. Each provider applies its own safeguards to that processing.
Security
The app and the website talk to our server only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The website's sign-in cookie cannot be read by scripts on a page. Our server limits how often sign-in and the AI tutor can be used.
Your rights
Under the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Personal Data", and other privacy laws where they apply to you, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. If you have an account, you can delete it yourself as described above. Without one, we usually hold nothing that can be linked to you, and the data on your device is yours to delete. If you have a question or a request, write to us and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change how kultivo handles information, we will update this policy and its effective date, and point out important changes in the app or on the website before they take effect. If you have an account, we will ask you to accept a new version when it matters to you.
